The C-SPAN bus made a stop at Baines Middle School to provide students with an interactive learning experience. Janienne Brown, Baines librarian, worked with a Comcast representative in coordinating the event for students.
The C-SPAN Bus is an interactive, multi-media presentation center that travels the country to promote and enhance C-SPAN’s extensive resources and political coverage by stopping at book festivals, high schools, and universities to host students and teachers around the nation, giving them an inside look at C-SPAN’s comprehensive educational and political resources.
During their tour of the bus, Baines students learned how to use C-SPAN resources in the classroom and how C-SPAN can help them stay informed about the federal government. They also accessed Web resources, such as C-SPAN’s Video Library, American History TV and Book TV, and learned about StudentCam – C-SPAN’s annual video documentary competition for middle and high school students that awards $100,000 in prizes.
