<p>Gerald “Jerry” Ira Ackerman, 66, and his wife, Bonnie Lynn Bolden Ackerman, 66, both died Tuesday afternoon, March 26, 2013, in Sugar Land, Texas as a result of an automobile accident.</p>
<p>Born in Akron, Ohio, Bonnie was a daughter of the late Charles Bolden and the late Eileen Kirkman Bolden. Bonnie retired from Imperial Sugar.</p>
<p>Born in Brooklyn, New York, Jerry was a son of the late Nathan Ackerman and the late Gertrude Honigsfeld Ackerman. Jerry was a retired Certified Public Accountant.</p>
<p>Surviving are their daughter, Beth Ackerman Ornelas and her husband, Daniel, of Richmond, Texas; their son, Craig Ackerman and his wife, Shannon, of Missouri City, Texas; their two grandsons, CJ Ackerman and Chase Ackerman; their step-grandson, Blake Bielamowicz and his wife, Amy; their great-granddaughter, Breelyn Bielamowicz; Bonnie’s sister, Penny Bruce and her husband, Mark, of Cleveland, Ohio and brother, Kirk and his wife, Yvonne, of Cleveland, Ohio and Jerry’s brother, Dr. Larry L. Ackerman and his wife, Lynda, of Tybee Island, Georgia.</p>
<p>The funeral service will be held at 10 o’clock Friday morning, April 12, 2013 in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service – 410 Stephenson Avenue, Savannah, GA, conducted by Rabbi Robert W. Haas. Inurnment will be in the Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery.</p>
<p>In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be sent to National Alliance on Mental Illness – (NAMI – FORT BEND) – Post Office Box 1223, Sugar Land, Texas 77487.</p>

<p>Robert Bradley “Brad” Petras, 35 of Richmond Texas passed away on Sunday April 7, 2013.  Brad was born on February 20 1978 to Frank and Brenda Petras. He graduated from Lamar Consolidated High School and received a BBA from the University of Houston.  He was an avid U of H fan and became known to his friends and family as “Cougar Brad.”  Brad was deeply loved by his family and friends for his charm, humor, and gentle spirit. He was greatly admired by all for his strong faith, positive attitude, and steadfast courage throughout his illness. Brad is survived by his parents Frank and Brenda Petras, sisters, Kristina Kenney and Leslie Davis and numerous loving nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.</p>
<p>Visitation will be held Wednesday April 10th  from 4:00-8:00 p.m. with a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Chapel in Rosenberg.</p>
<p>Funeral services will be Thursday, April 11th at 2:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Richmond, Texas.</p>

<p>Daniel Jacob Goldberg, 68, passed away on March 7, 2013 in Sugar Land, TX. Daniel grew up in New Orleans, LA and attended the University of Virginia Charlottesville, graduating in 1966, and attended the University Texas at Austin School of Law, graduating in 1969 with a Doctor of Jurisprudence.</p>
<p>Daniel is survived by his wife of 45 years Lana, his 3 sons Eric, Joshua, and Micah, and 4 grandchildren.</p>
<p>Daniel was a Partner of Ross, Banks, May, Cron, and Cavin Law Firm in Houston where he worked since 1970. He was past president of the Commercial Law League of America, and also a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Panel Trustee for the Eastern District of Texas. He was Board Certified as a Creditors Rights Specialist by the American Board of Certification. He co-authored instruction manuals for the Texas Bar Continuing Legal Education Committee. His Bar admissions included: Texas, 1969; U.S Court of Appeals 5th circuit, 1986; U.S. District Court Southern District of Texas, 1970; U.S. District Court Western District of Texas, 1984; U.S. District Court Eastern District, 1987; U.S. District Court Western District of Texas, 1987.</p>
<p>He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his family and kind heartedly teasing his friends.</p>
<p>Ross, Banks, May, Cron, and Cavin Law Firm is hosting a reception to Celebrate Dan’s Life on Wed. April 3, 2013 from 5:30 to 8:30 pm at The Tasting Room in Uptown Park in Houston.</p>
<p>A memorial service was held on Friday, March 8, 2013 at 2:00PM at Houston Jewish Funerals. Donations in his memory can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, US Holocaust Museum or an organization of your choice.</p>

<p>Donald Ray Bess was born May 4, 1950 to Isaac Bess Sr. and Ida Mae Davenport in Galveston, Texas. At the age of 2 he moved to Wharton, TX where he was raised. He graduated from Wharton High School in 1969. Shortly after graduating he joined the United States Marine Corp and served his country for 20 years and retired in June 1989 as a Master Sergeant. After his military career he worked for Stewart and Stevenson until he retired in March 2010.</p>
<p>The Lord called him home early in the morning on March 12, 2013.</p>
<p>He is preceded in death by his father Isaac Bess Sr., mother Ida Mae Bess, brother Isaac Bess Jr., and sister Joyce Bess Solomon. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife Rose, sons Cedric D. Bess (Felicia) and Corey R. Bess (Danielle), stepson Mitchell Mason (Melissa) stepdaughters Jerrice Price (Bo), and Inez Hernandez (Victor), grandchildren Cena Bess, Cianna Bess, Christopher Elliott, Ellyssa Price, Britnie Price, Madelyn Bridges, Nicholas Mason, Cody Mason, Cameron Mason, Trysten Alcala, Katelyn Hernandez, Megann Hernandez, and Victor Hernandez Jr., twin brother Ronald Bess, brother Jack Bess (Doris), Charles Bess, sisters MaryJean Bonton, Doris Francis (Henry), and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.</p>

Hughes</p></div>
<p>Christopher J. Hughes, Age 28, of Missouri City, passed away on February 27, 2013 in Sugar Land Methodist Hospital. He was born on November 30, 1984 in Houston, Texas to Jim Hughes and Jody Tancred.</p>
<p>He is survived by his best friend and father Jim, his mother Jody, his loving sister Heather, his Grandmother Marjorie Tancred,  as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins.</p>
<p>Chris enjoyed all types of animals and wildlife; his favorite hobby was planting and taking care of bonsai trees and other tropical plants. He enjoyed barbequing with friends and family.  He loved to go fishing with his dad and friends on the weekend. He was also an avid college football fan and loved watching the Texans play on Sunday afternoons.</p>
<p>Chris was often known to give away his last dollar to people that were less fortunate than he.  Often, he could be seen cruising the aisles of the local Wal-Mart and Kroger on the weekends buying items for his friends and family!</p>
<p>A Memorial Service was held at 1 pm on Saturday, April 2, 2013 at St. Laurence Catholic Church, 3100 Sweetwater Blvd., in Sugar Land.</p>

<p>Afton was born October 21, 1928 in Ft. Worth to Afton Lamar Lawson, Sr. and Vera Powers Lawson.  He served our country proudly in the U. S. Air Force in Korea and was a Missouri City Police Officer.  He passed away March 8, 2013 in Sugar Land.</p>
<p>Afton was preceded in death by his wife, Lanell Lawson and his parents, Afton, Sr. and Vera Lawson.</p>
<p>He is survived by his sons, Larry Lamar Lawson and Donald E. Lawson and wife, Vicki; sister, Mary Elizabeth Ferguson; grandchildren, Donald E. Lawson, Jr., Heather Lawson Warncke and Tammi K. Porter; great grandchildren, Austin Warncke and Cooper Lawson; along with other relatives and friends.</p>

Born on March 30, 1956 in Houston, Texas, she was the devoted daughter of Gus Mule’ and Carla Juliana Tartagni. Cathy was a hard working person, loved gardening and traveled the world. Cathy was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Missouri City, TX, which her ancestors helped establish. Cathy is survived by her son, Christopher Meullion; her parents; sister, Gina Mulle; brother, Carl Joe Mulle; and numerous of loving relatives and friends. She will be missed by all.</p>
<p>Visitation: Thursday, March 7, 2013, 6:30PM to 8:30PM, Earthman Southwest Chapel, 12555 South Kirkwood, Stafford, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00PM.</p>
<p>A Mass of Christian Burial is to be offered at 10:30 tomorrow morning, Friday, the 8th of March, Holy Family Catholic Church, 1510 Fifth St., Missouri City, with the Rev. Sunny Joseph Plammoottil, O.S.H. is to serve as the celebrant. The Rite of Committal is to follow, at Morton Cemetery in Richmond. Afterwards, all are invited to greet the family during a reception at Holy Family Church Hall. Honored to serve as pallbearers during Friday’s services are Cathy’s nephews: Anthony Mulle, Ryan Mulle, Jonathan Mulle; and her cousins, Joseph Mulle, Stephen Mulle and Thomas Mulle.</p>

Morris</p></div>
<p>MARION A. MORRIS (DANFORTH), of Sugar Land, passed away Friday, March 8, 2013, surrounded by her family. Marion was born in Beacon, NY, to John Thomas Danforth and Catherine Rose Murphy Danforth.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert C. Morris.  Marion is survived by her five daughters, Mariana Morris, Ph.D., a professor and department chair at Wright State University, Boonshoft School of Medicine in Dayton, OH; Jeanne Morris Smith (Craig Smith), a computer analyst from Austin, TX; Susan Morris, M.D. (David Cargill, M.D.), a family practice physician in Lima, OH; Catherine Morris Byrnes, an accountant in Sugar Land; and Ellen Morris, Ph.D. (Stefan Magnusson), a professor at Columbia University, School of International and Public Affairs from Glen Ridge, NJ.  Grandchildren are Kathleen Byrnes (Justin Choi), Alison Byrnes (David Hershey), Robert Cargill, Christopher Byrnes, Mark Cargill, Evon Magnusson and Victor Magnusson; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.  A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 AM, on Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 705 St. Theresa Blvd., Sugar Land, TX.  A reception with the family will immediately follow at the Knights of Columbus Hall, adjacent to the church.</p>

<p>Memorial services for Charles Andrew Horton, age 76, of Rusk are scheduled for 12:00 noon, Thursday, April 7, 2013 at Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jan Pate officiating.</p>
<p>Mr. Horton died early Tuesday morning, April 5, 2013 in a Jacksonville Hospital.  He was born July 16, 1936 in Franklin, TX to the late Albert and Leila Horton.  Mr. Horton was a resident of Rusk for 28 years.  He spent the majority of his professional life as an educator where he was the principal of Jones Elementary, Quail Valley Elementary, Briar Gate Elementary all of  Missouri City, TX and finally Rusk Elementary School where he retired, he then spent his remaining years in real estate.  He had many years of civic service including Mayor of Rusk, President of the Lions Club, Rusk Industrial Foundation, TEA Accreditation Team, President of the Board of Cherokee County Realtors and was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Rusk Chamber of Commerce.  His proudest achievement however was a long fulfilled life with his wife and family.</p>
<p>He is preceeded in death by his parents, his brother Lloyd Horton, sister, Sadie Gilley and oldest son Mark Horton.</p>
<p>He is survived by his wife Betty Horton of 33 years, son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Cynthia Horton of Stafford, TX, daughter and son-in-law, Christie and Blake Bailey of Alto, TX, daughter and son-in-law Casey and Mark Schultz of Houston,TX, daughter-in-law Linda Horton, grandchildren Dalene Reid and husband Wes of Missouri City, TX,   Colene Horton of Missouri City, TX, Calvin, Creed, and Campbell Bailey of Alto, TX,  Camden and Adyson Schultz of Houston, TX,  Stacey Zysk and  husband Marcus of Bellevilla, MI, Mark Stephen Horton of Santa Fe, TX, Bryan and wife Jessica Horton of Longmont, CO and great grandchildren Peyton Reid, Nickolie Zysk, Mark Stephen Horton III, Meridith Horton and Charlotte Ann Horton, as well as sisters-in-law Barbara and Judy Campbell.</p>
<p>If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Rusk Volunteer Fire Department or the Rusk Elementary PTO.</p>

<p>Keith is preceded in death by his parents.</p>
<p>He is survived by his wife, Tina; 3 children, brother, and other family and friends.</p>
<p>A memorial service was held at 2 pm on Friday, February 1, 2013 at Faith United Methodist Church, 4600 FM 359, in Richmond.</p>
<p>In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Keith’s name to the charity of your choice.</p>
