Cecilia “Delia” Magana, who was the heartbeat of her family and best friend to her husband, lifted into Heaven after a long illness that she fought with unbelievable strength. Delia was a wife, mother, grandma, sister, aunt and cousin. She is survived by the love of her life, Sam Magana, who will have been celebrating their 53rd Wedding Anniversary later this month. Delia and Sam shared a unique bond that was rare and what most of us strive to achieve. Her cowboy was her everything and she was everything and more to him. Delia and Sam had 8 children. Her legacy lives on in all her sons and daughters; Sammy Magana, Roland Magana and his wife Susan, Wallace Magana, Melinda Frey and her husband Britt, Ricky Magana, Sandra Davis and her husband Jeff, Sharon Rembert and her husband Mitch, and her baby Barbara Magana Robertson and her husband Bill. Through every win in the arena, stitch at the hospital, or whatever accolade or misstep, Delia was there to give a hug if needed, word of encouragement if warranted or a dose of honesty if necessary. She was known for cooking breakfast, lunch and dinner. She was a connoisseur of the enchilada and the master of the rib eye steak but her salsa is what made her the queen of her Kitchen. Every meal at her house was a feast for the family prepared solely by her.
Her grandest love was bestowed upon her grandchildren; Lindsey, Ryan, Chelsea, Blake, Mitch, Josh, Brandon, Troy, Alexis, Brooke, Christian and Brittany. In her kitchen reads a sign, “who needs Santa, when you have Grandma” and that is how it was to be her grandkid.
She has been a member of Saint Theresa’s Catholic Church for over 50 years. She believed in her God and had extraordinary faith. She had immense devotion to her religion and said prayers for many over the years. From taking the offerings to the church bazaar, Delia was proud to be part of the St Theresa Family.
Delia loved to dance with her husband, shop and have lunch with her daughters, cook for her sons and spoil her grandkids. She was the ultimate wife, mommy and grandma. The Magana Family would like to thank the Methodist hospital ICU & CCU staffs for the care and dignity they provided and ensured to their mother. Serving as Pall Bearers will be her sons and her grandsons.
Mrs. Magana’s funeral was on Tuesday January 8, 2013, officiated by Rev. Stephen B. Reynolds, Pastor at St. Theresa Catholic Church and she was laid to rest at Davis Green Lawn in Rosenberg.
