The Senior Trust Alliance hosted a celebration for the older Americans in Fort Bend County at Emeritus Senior Living of Sugar Land. The event commemorated the contribution that each of the older Americans has made to their families, communities, and to the nation. An energetic performance by Harbor Lights Choir, a dance, and poetry reading were among the program for the ceremony.
The highlight of the event was the Proclamation of Older American Month and Day in Sugar Land, and the Presentation of Plaques and Certificates to Centenarians made by Honorable James “Jimmy” Thompson, Mayor of Sugar Land. Mayor Thompson was joined by Honorable Vincent Morales, Jr., Mayor of Rosenberg; Honorable Allen Owen, Mayor of Missouri City; Honorable Bill Dostal, Mayor Pro-Tem of Richmond; and Taylor Landin, Representing Congressman Pete Olson.
The Alliance is led by Certified Senior Advisor (CSA) Ronald L. Norsworthy. “It’s really about serving our community and educating them,” noted Norsworthy. “We were excited to honor our centennial seniors in a special way with this celebration.”
The group meets once a month to stay informed about the most pressing issues among the senior community and how they can better serve seniors.
