Fort Bend County Libraries’ Sienna Branch Library, 8411 Sienna Springs Blvd in Missouri City, presents a variety of free children’s programs — Mother Goose Time, Toddler Time, Story Time, Kinder Korner, and After-School Breaks — every month. These programs are free and open to the public.
Mother Goose Time, which takes place on Tuesdays at 10:00 am, provides caregiver/infant multisensory circle-time activities — including simple sign language, folksongs and lullabies, and finger plays — that are especially designed to stimulate babies’ social, emotional, and physical development through rhythm and music. Mother Goose Time is intended for infants from age 1 month to 12 months. Program dates are January 8, 15, 22, and 29. The library is closed on January 1.
Toddler Time — Thursdays at 10:00 am — offers caregiver/child activities, stories and songs for older babies, from 12 to 36 months of age. Program dates are January 10, 17, 24, and 31. Toddler Time will not take place on January 3.
Pre-school children, 3 to 6 years of age, will enjoy Story Time, where they hear stories, watch movies, and participate in age-appropriate craft activities, beginning at 10:00 am each Wednesday. Program dates are January 9, 16, 23, and 30. Story Time will not take place on January 2.
Pajama Night Story Time — which takes place every Monday at 6:30 pm — gives families an evening option for some activities presented during the day time. Program dates are January 7, 14, and 28. The library will be closed on January 21 for the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.
Kinder Korner — a time for kindergartners to enjoy stories, movies, crafts and other activities – normally takes place on the 2nd Wednesday, beginning at 4:00 pm. The program on January 9 will be “1, 2, Mittens for You!”
The After-School Break — crafts, movies, stories, and more for school-aged children in grades 1 through 5 ONLY – takes place on the 4th Thursday, beginning at 4:15 pm. The After-School Break on January 24 will be “ArtWork Tees.”
Tween the Pages — a book club for youth in grades 4 and 5 – takes place on the 2nd Tuesday, beginning at 4:15 pm. On January 8, those attending will discuss Whales on Stilts, written by M.T. Anderson.
The Teen Programs, which begin at 6:30 pm on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays, are designed for youth in grades 6-8. The January schedule is as follows:
