Fort Bend County Libraries’ First Colony Branch Library, 2121 Austin Parkway in Sugar Land, presents a variety of free children’s programs — Mother Goose Time, Toddler Time, Story Time, Pajama Night Story Time, and After-School Breaks — every month. These programs are free and open to the public.
Mother Goose Time, which takes place on every Tuesday at 11:00 am, provides caregiver/infant multisensory circle-time activities — including simple sign language, folksongs and lullabies, and finger plays — that are especially designed to stimulate babies’ social, emotional, and physical development through rhythm and music. Mother Goose Time is intended for infants from age 1 month to 12 months. Program dates are April 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30.
Toddler Time, which meets every Wednesday and Thursday at 10:15 am, offers caregiver/child activities, stories and songs for older babies, from 12 to 36 months of age. Program dates are April 3, 4, 10, 11, 17, 18, 24, and 25.
Story Time, which meets every Wednesday at 11:15 am, provides stories, movies, and age-appropriate craft activities for pre-school children, 3 to 6 years of age. Program dates are April 3, 10, 17, and 24.
Pajama Night Story Time—which takes place on the 2nd Monday of the month at
6:30 pm—gives families an evening option for some activities otherwise presented during the daytime. The Pajama Night Story Time on April 8 will be “Exercise is Fun.”
Kinder Korner — a time for kindergartners to enjoy stories, movies, crafts and other activities – takes place on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month, at 4:00 pm. The April schedule is as follows:
April 11 – Spring Into Spring!
April 25 – Feel the Beat
The After-School Breaks — crafts, movies, stories, and more for school-aged children in 1st through 5th grades ONLY – take place on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays, beginning at 4:30 pm. The April schedule is as follows:
April 4 – Homemade Puffy Paint
April 18 – Foil Art with Sharpies
The Tween Café, which takes place on the 2nd Wednesday of the month beginning at 5:30 pm, is designed for youth ages 10-14. The Tween Café program on April 10 will be “Misheard Lyrics Jeopardy.”
