It may only July, but the Fort Bend Museum Docents are busily preparing for the annual Candlelight Tours, which for many is the kick-off to Christmas festivities.
“Each year, the docents decorate the 1883 historic home of the Moore family for almost 100 years. Every year’s theme is different; this year the docents will present “Life in the Moore Home” to highlight events in the home, community, nation, and world during various periods between the 1890’s and the mid-20th century,” said John Baker, co-vice president, Fort Bend County Museum Docents.
Candlelight tours for the public will be held December 6 from 6 PM to 8 PM and on December 7, from 2 PM to 8 PM. Tickets, available at the door, are $5 for adults, $4 for seniors, and $3 for children. Group tours are available by reservation December 6, 9 AM to 11 AM and 1 PM till 3 PM. Call 281-341-6478 to schedule your group.
The docents are volunteers who support the mission of the Fort Bend County Museum Association, which is “to preserve the history of Fort Bend County and the surrounding area. The Association strives to inspire and educate the public for the purpose of strengthening awareness and appreciation of cultural heritage for future generations.” The Fort Bend County Museum Association has preserved and interpreted Fort Bend County and Texas history since 1967.
