
In Brightwater, residents and a Greyhound gathered to visit and share snacks.
Neighborhoods across Missouri City showed their community spirit with National Night Out block parties featuring good food, fellowship and fun on the 29th annual observance of the crime prevention initiative on Oct. 2.
The events are designed to encourage neighbors to get to know each other and partner with police officers, firefighters, City Council and staff to prevent crime.
A brief downpour during the start of Creekmont’s annual gathering didn’t put a damper on spirits of homeowners who attended their annual celebration at the community clubhouse. The event featured vendors including the Wells Fargo Wagon, Aaron Rentals, Luby’s catering and Target. Residents signed in and received tickets for special prizes that were awarded throughout the evening.
That sentiment was also on display at Hunters Glenn III, where residents were treated to lots of desserts and a presentation by an award-winning karate group.
Thirty-two year resident Alvin Battle praised Missouri City as a “wonderful place to be. My neighbors always watch out for you and I’ve never had my home broken into in the entire time I’ve lived here.”
Residents in Vicksburg gathered outside for a neighborhood pot luck dinner, with chef Ed Thompson grilling sausages, hot dogs and hamburgers. A diverse group gathered around picnic tables for their cozy event.
In Quail Valley East, residents gathered at their clubhouse on Turtle Creek Drive and had an opportunity to visit with Fire Chief Russell Sander and Assistant Fire Chief Paige Day while enjoying root beer floats.
Other neighborhoods hosting block parties included multiple neighborhoods in Quail Valley, Hunters Glen IV, Colony Lakes, Waterbrook West, Lake Shore Harbour, Vicksburg, Brightwater, Lake Olympia, First Colony and Fondren Park.
This year’s National Night Out included two kick-off gatherings held on Sept. 29 at the Police Mini-Station on Texas Parkway and on Oct. 2 at Target on Highway 6 at Murphy Road.
