The City of Austin’s Communications and Public Information office welcomes its new Summer 2012 Media Relations intern: Amanda Almeda.
Amanda Almeda is the daughter of Sugar Land residents Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Almeda III. She graduated third in the class of 2010 from Manvel High School. She is currently double majoring in Marketing and Government at the University of Texas at Austin.
Amanda is an active leader on her campus as well as in her community. Last summer, she interned at Congressman Pete Olson’s District Office in Sugar Land. She served as Media Director in the Asian Business Students Association and as a Volunteer Instructor in Langford Elementary’s after-school STEM Program. She hopes become even more involved in the City of Austin through this internship and is excited to utilize her skills to help further the endeavors of the Communications and Public Information Office. “I love Austin and recognize that the eyes of Texas and the U.S. are watching its tremendous growth. I am honored to have this opportunity to both contribute to and learn about what makes Austin truly unique.”
Amanda will perform tasks such as answering media and public calls; assisting with media-related data entry; support Public Information Requests; write, edit, and distribute news releases; assemble media kits; provide event assistance and other administrative duties.
Almeda is joined by intern Lee Oxler, a recent Kansas State University graduate.
