Civil Servant of the Week: Elizabeth Williams named the new FBISD principal of Colony Bend Elementary School
The Fort Bend ISD Board of Trustees appointed Elizabeth Williams as the new principal of Colony Bend Elementary School during its Called Meeting on November 9, 2015. Williams is the current assistant principal at Colony Bend and will replace Principal Sue Sierra, who will become the principal of Austin Parkway Elementary in January.
Williams began her educational career in 1999 as a social studies teacher in Houston ISD. She also worked as a teacher in Alief ISD before entering Fort Bend ISD as an instructional specialist at Ridgegate Elementary School. She served as an assistant principal at Briargate and Hunters Glen Elementary Schools before being named assistant principal at Colony Bend Elementary, where she has served for the past four years.
“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to bring my skills as an educational leader to the students of Colony Bend Elementary School, and to work with parents and the community as a partner in education,” said Williams. “I look forward to providing students with the best opportunities possible to ensure that they are well equipped to have academic success now and in the future.”
Williams is a 2010-2011 FBISD LEAD Academy graduate and a former HISD Teacher of the Year and Outstanding Young Educator. She received a Master of Education degree in Principalship and a Bachelor of Science degree in Instruction from the University of Houston.
