Richmond Fire Chief Mike Youngblood recognized two Community Heroes at the Richmond City Commission meeting held on Monday, September 19, 2011.

Dave Scott and Scott McGuire were recognized as Community Heroes for their effort in helping to stop a wild brush fire from spreading on Sunday, September 11, in Richmond. The brush fire broke out near Saint John Fisher Catholic Church on Clay Road, and was spreading rapidly threatening homes in the nearby area.

Dave Scott and Scott McGuire managed to quickly get a bulldozer to the area and then used the bulldozer to clear an area of grass and brush to help stop the fire from spreading. Youngblood stated that “without their help and concern for the community, this fire could have caused major damage to a nearby residential area.” The fire was quickly contained and put out by the Richmond Fire Department.
