Last week when the “Star” went to press, Fort Bend County Precinct 4 Deputy Constable David Dunn had just jumped some copper thieves preventing them from destroying several businesses outside utilities.
Deputy Dunn, who has served in Fort Bend County law enforcement for 25 years and Houston police officer for 10 years prior to that, caught and arrested one of the alleged thieves after a foot chase and struggle, said Nehls’ Chief Deputy John Hermann.
As a result of that incident, Constable Trever Nehls presented Dunn with a Letter of Commendation for his involvement in the prevention of the theft of copper wiring and tubing from Ruthie’s Mexican Restaurant and neighboring businesses in the New Territory business district.
“This is an example of the diligent police work and the cooperation between Precinct 4 constable deputies and the Fort Bend Sheriff’s Office that residents of our county deserve,” said Constable Nehls.
Wayne Bright of Cape Coral, Florida, was arrested for evading and resisting arrest.
The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office is continuing the theft investigation.
