Cradle of Texas Chorus performs at the opening of Gigi’s Playhouse in Sugar Land
The chorus, under the direction of Holly Ritter, is a member of the Sweet Adelines International women’s barbershop organization, singing musical harmonies, four part a cappella style.
Cradle of Texas Chorus practices every Thursday evenings in Sugar Land. Come and visit us to share in the music, harmony and fun! www.cradleoftexas.com
The Chorus feels a close link to Gigi’s as two of the Chorus members have grandchildren with Down syndrome and they worked tirelessly along with their families and many other community members over the last two years to make this opening day a reality, establishing a GiGi’s Playhouse in Sugar Land!
Over 400 people showed up in support at the ribbon cutting, including the Central Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce, along with Nancy and Gigi Gianni, (founder of the first Gigi’s Playhouse in 2003 in Illinois) and speaker Representative Pete Olsen.
Located at Building 11, 14015 SW Freeway in Sugar Land, GiGi’s Playhouse is the newest of the permanent brick and mortar locations of this unique Down syndrome organization, offering direct educational and therapeutic programs to individuals with Down syndrome, their families and the community. All ages are welcome from pre-natal to adults. The positive and uplifting environment of GiGi’s Sugar Land will empower those with Down syndrome to reach their highest potential. Their literacy program alone teaches thousands of kids with Down syndrome to read every year!
Playhouses across the country offer 30 educational and therapeutic programs at no charge to families. Since the first Playhouse in 2003, GiGi’s Playhouse has grown into a strong network of 24 Playhouses. Last year, over 25,000 participants benefited from Playhouse programs.
