A Crime Stoppers special alert has been issued for the suspects in a recent, very aggressive grocery store robbery.
Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers is pledging up to $5,000.00 in reward monies for any information that can lead authorities to the apprehension and conviction of the suspects who terrorized and robbed a grocery store Saturday morning August 13.
Sheriff’s spokesperson Bob Haenel said the ‘Welcome Food Market’, located in the 15000 block of Beechnut, in far northeast Fort Bend County, was robbed at 9 am that Saturday morning by two masked males. Another male, reportedly an accomplice, was waiting outside in the getaway car.
Haenel said two males entered the store that morning with shotguns drawn. One suspect jumped the counter, struck the clerk, then attempted to rip the cash drawer from the register, said Haenel. He also said, “The second subject forced customers to the floor and demanded they give up their wallets.” While that suspect was looting the customers, he kicked one victim and hit another in the head with the butt of his shotgun.
Although there were as many as 10 customers in the store, several were able to seek refuge by hiding in the back of the store.
Haenel described the shotgun toting suspects as Hispanic males. One was wearing black pants, a black hoodie and a red bandanna over his face. The other was wearing gray shorts, a dark-colored shirt and had a dark-colored mask over his face. A third possible suspect was identified as a black male who was waiting outside the store in a blue four-door Ford Taurus, which authorities believe to be the get-away vehicle.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office at 281-341-4665 or Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers, Inc. at (281) 342-TIPS (8477).
