The Cy-Falls Eagles used three 3-pointers by Zach Stevenson in the first four minutes of the game to take an 11-5 lead and went on to beat Hightower 62-45 in the second round of the playoffs last Friday at Coleman Coliseum.
The Eagles led 23-10 at the end of the first quarter, but the Hurricanes, behind Mykell Robinson’s six points in the second quarter, cut the Eagles lead to 29-21 at halftime.
The Hurricanes, with Robinson scoring four points, started the second half with an 8-2 run to make the score 31-29 with 5:12 to go in the third quarter. But, Cy-Falls countered with a 15-4 run to finish the quarter with a 46-33 lead.
The Hurricanes rallied at the start of the fourth quarter, cutting the lead to 8 at 47-39 with 5:00 to go in the game. In the next minute, Cy-Falls responded with a slam-dunk and a layup off of a steal, and with a 51-39 lead, the game was effectively over. The final score was 62-45.
Stevenson led the Eagles with 16 points, and Trajan Wesley added 12.
“I was feeling good in the warm-up, and coach told me to be confident and take my shots, and I was able to hit those early 3’s,” Stevenson said.
Hightower was led by Robinson with 14 points. The Hurricanes end their season with a 26-11 record.
