Steve Brown, Chair of the Fort Bend Democratic Party, announced that the Democratic Party would have a strong candidate in the race to replace retiring State Representative Charlie Howard in District 26.
“I would like to personally thank Representative Howard on his service to our community,” Brown said on hearing of Howard’s choice not to seek re-election. “Although we didn’t often agree, I respect the sacrifices he made to dutifully serve his constituents. I hope and pray that his health improves.”
Brown went on to say, “The Democratic Party has been actively recruiting candidates to field in HD 26. We feel that Democrat’s path to 76 seats in the Texas House goes through Sugar Land, TX. As such, we have no plans to concede this seat in the 2012 election cycle. We look forward to an active campaign season and competitive general election, where we will have the opportunity to debate the critical issues related to the future of HD 26.”
