Diabetes is a chronic disease that is rapidly increasing and affects approximately 6.8% of the Fort Bend County population – whether diagnosed or unknown. “Do Well, Be Well with Diabetes” (DWBW) is an educational series that teaches nutrition and self-care information to improve the lifestyle of the person with diabetes.
Texas AgriLife Extension Service will present Do Well, Be Well with Diabetes” at Texas AgriLife Extension office, 1402 Band Road,Room 120 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
This is a five session series featuring: “What Is Diabetes?”/”Nutrition: First Step to Diabetes Management on Tuesday, October 25; “One Diabetes Diet – No Longer the Sole Option”/”Managing Your Blood Glucose” on Tuesday, November 1; “Nutritional Labels”/”Diabetes and Exercise” on Tuesday, November 8; “For Good Measure at Home and Eating Out”/”Diabetes Medicines” on Tuesday, November 15; and “Preventing and Managing Complications” on Tuesday, November 22.
Presenters for the sessions will be Sandra Fry, County Extension Agent-Family and Consumer Sciences. Interested persons are asked to pre-register by October21 by contacting Jacque Gerke, Administrative Assistant, FCS at Texas AgriLife Extension Service – phone 281-342-3034.
There is a $15 registration fee for this program. Participants are requested to attend all five of the sessions and will receive a completion certificate.
