Rep. Pete Olson this week congratulate and recognize Michelle Huang, a 10th grader at Dulles High School for her winning submission to the annual Congressional Art Contest. Her piece, entitled “Call of the Plains,” is an oil painting on canvas, picturing three cowboys riding horses on the plains. The winning piece will now be on display in the U.S. Capitol for a year.
“Michelle’s artwork truly captures the essence of the Texas spirit,” Olson said. “Her hard work and vision to create this wonderful piece of artwork is a testament to her talent, and her parents and teachers who support her.
Thousands of visitors to the Capitol will now see firsthand what creative young people we have here in Texas’ 22nd Congressional District. Congratulations to Michelle and all the other students who submitted artwork for this year’s competition.”
This competition is an opportunity to recognize and encourage the artistic talent in the nation, as well as in each Congressional District. The overall winner from each district will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol.
