On Tuesday, March 27, the student chapter officers for Dulles High School DECA attended the Fort Bend County Commissioners’ Court open session on the 7th floor of the Travis Building in Richmond, TX. The Dulles DECA officers and their advisor, Deanna Shepard, attended at the invitation of Precinct 4 Commissioner James Patterson. At the beginning of the session, Mrs. Shepard and the DECA officers were introduced and welcomed. While in attendance and before the county commissioners adjourned into a closed session, Commissioner Patterson explained to the student officers the functions of Commissioners’ Court and the personnel involved, along with their job descriptions.
DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe. Through DECA, students have the opportunity to participate in social functions, meet many business leaders in the community, and to apply for scholarships which may be used to further their education for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management.
