Lauren Yanga, a sophomore from Dulles High School, has earned National Gold medal in the 2017 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards.
Lauren’s art work “Never Forget” was in the less than 0.5 percent of entries selected as national gold medal by professional judges from among more than 330,000 pieces of art and writing that were submitted from around the world.
As a top award winner, Lauren was invited to attend the ceremony at Carnegie Hall in New York on June 8. Her winning art piece is displayed in Pratt Institute’s Pratt Manhattan Gallery and Parsons School of Design at New York.
Founded in 1923, Scholastic Art and Writing Awards is the nation’s longest-running and most prestigious recognition program for creative teens in grades 7-12.
The mission to the program is to identify students with exceptional artistic and literary talent and present their remarkable work to the world through the art and writing contests.
