Elkins baseball players do more than play ball

December 14, 2011 by FortBendStar

Elkins Knights participated in the 2nd Annual Food Drive early Friday morning – 50 players contributed to the overall goal of “A Ton of Food” as they loaded up four trucks to head to Terry HS for drop off at Second Mile Mission. “The boys really engaged in the process of helping others, we want to be a team that gives back to the community”, said head coach Richard Thistlethwaite.

“Thanks so much for your generous donations of food and toys for the families we serve at Second Mile Mission Center. Your donations will make it possible for the Mission to help an increased number of families during the holiday season.

Recently we had ninety one families come to Second Mile for help in one day. That’s more families than most days on record outside of hurricane relief periods.

Also, many children will have Christmas toys this year because of your donations.

Please know that your generosity will put smiles on their faces and joy in their hearts. Thanks again for stepping up with your contributions to share with families in distress in our community.”
