Girl Scout cookies are a great symbol of America. In fact, Girl Scout Cookies continue to be one of the most requested items by community programs such as Houston Marine Moms, Meals on Wheels, St. Luke’s Pediatric Emergency Room in Sugar Land, East Fort Bend Human Needs Ministry, and Helping Hands. The Girl Scouts in Rainbow Star Service Unit donate cookies that are purchased by generous customers, families and friends to all the organizations this year.
For the soldiers, the cookies are shipped to various Military bases around the world through Houston Marine Moms. The girls also write notes from home that are sent along with the cookies. The Soldiers are in stressful situations, but when they receive a box of cookies from home, it sends a message to the troops that America is thinking of them and their safe return.
Meg McDonald in Troop 28028 was responsible for 206 boxes for Fort Bend Meals on Wheels, These cookies and the other donated for Meals on Wheels were delivered to the Fort Bend Senior Citizens Center.
