Deirde Holloway is the district’s Region 4 Elementary Principal of the Year, and Lillie Vega is the district’s Region 4 Secondary Principal of the Year. The award acknowledges the role of the principal by celebrating individuals who embody the characteristics that are necessary to serve as an exemplary campus administrator. These individuals serve as role models in their field and consistently make a positive difference in the lives of children.
Deirdre Holloway is principal at Blue Ridge Elementary School and has 16 years of service in education. She worked as an assistant principal for seven years, a teacher for five years, and has spent the past four years devoted to FBISD as principal of Blue Ridge. She received a Bachelors of Science Degree in Academic Studies from Sam Houston State University and a Masters of Education Degree in Administration and Supervision from Prairie View A & M University.
Lillie Vega is the principal of Hodges Bend Middle School and is a 34-year veteran in education. She has devoted 25 years of service to FBISD, having first served as a reading teacher at First Colony Middle School. While at First Colony, she was selected as the Campus Teacher of the Year and a District Teacher of the Year Finalist. She has also worked as an assistant principal at Hightower High School, and an associate principal at Garcia Middle School. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Texas, Austin, and a Master of Education Degree in Educational Administration and reading certification from the University of Houston.
