Director of Communications responds
To Whom it may Concern,
I recently received notice from some of my neighbors in New Territory that stated that anyone living within 2 miles of Sartartia Middle School would no longer be offered bus service due to budget cuts and the fact that some are no longer in a hazardous area.
I live in Meadow Crest which actually does not have easy access to the sidewalk that goes under Hwy 99 . I have not received a letter. What is disconcerting is the fact that there are NO clear references on the FBISD web site for parents to look up their particular subdivision to see if their children will still be able to ride the school bus.
I understand that there is a fee of $450 per student and that applications were being received as of July 15th and that this service is 1st come 1 come only. So where does that leave the rest of us, we don’t have any information so we can start making alternative plans to get our children to school safely.
I have left messages at the transportation office at FBISD, but have not received a phone call back.
If someone could provide some concise information for all parents to be able to access on the FBISD website, it would help tremendously.
Note – Director of Communications responds:
All of the information about transportation routes and changes is on the district website. Just go to the homepage fortbendisd.com and click on School Zone and Bus Route Locator under “Quick Links” at www.fortbendisd.com/transportation. Letters were sent to only those who reside in homes that have any changes in transportation service. The Transportation Department is in the process of mailing out cards to let families know their bus routes and schedules for the 2011-2012 school year.
You can view the maps included in a presentation on the same webpage on page 24-26 at www.fortbendisd.com/transportation/RecommendedHazardous%20Zones%2011-12%20FINAL.pdf
Your address has no transportation change. If you have questions, please contact the Transportation Department. The contact information is also on the website.
