Fort Bend ISD students will unite on November 10 to host the 5th Annual Tracie Hester / Life Donor Scholarship Walk. The walk will be held at Austin High School, 3434 Pheasant Creek Dr., Sugar Land, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., and will include a Walk of Pride around the campus, dance performances by the Travis High School Belles and Austin High School Angels dance teams, guest speakers, musical performances, and more.
This year’s event is hosted and organized by the AHS DECA Program and supported by the Travis Belles and Austin Angels.
The Tracie Hester / Life Donor Scholarship Walk is a charitable event that brings awareness to the local community about the importance of becoming a blood and organ/tissue donor. It also educates people about the life and legacy of Tracie Hester, an AHS graduate and Austin Angel who was killed in a car accident on October 6, 2006.
Tracie was a Life Gift donor and was able to help more than 100 people through organ and tissue donation. Even though she was an AHS graduate, her passing impacted the Austin and Travis communities, as two of her siblings were Travis students.
All proceeds from the event support the Tracie Hester Scholarship, which benefits both AHS and THS students. Scholarship entries and finalist interviews will be conducted later in the year. All donations should be made out to AHS.
The ultimate goal of this event is to provide continuing funding for the scholarships that bear Tracie’s name and to encourage people to sign up to be Life Donors.
Tracie spent much of her short life helping others, and has continued to do so even after her passing. For t-shirt order forms or more information about the event contact Lilian Mason at 281-634-7668 or email@example.com.
