Pampa Dutta, a science teacher at Ridge Point High School, was accepted as a Fellow into the New Science Teacher Academy, sponsored by DOW Chemical Company and the National Science Teachers Association.
The New Science Teacher Academy is a professional development initiative created to help promote quality science teaching, enhance teacher confidence and classroom excellence, and improve teacher content knowledge. The Academy uses mentoring and other professional development resources to support science teachers during the often challenging initial teaching years.
As an Academy Fellow, Dutta will have the opportunity to participate in various web-based professional development activities, including e-Mentoring with an experienced teacher in the same science discipline and grade level. She will also have the opportunity to participate in specialized conference pathways and in a Research Dissemination Conference or a Professional Development Institute. In addition, Dutta will have access to unlimited use of resources, including vetted web links for lesson plans, state and national standards, professional organizations, safety tips, and more.
