Fort Bend Independent School District is asking for public input at one of three town hall meetings to learn more about proposed attendance boundary changes for the 2012-2013 school year.
The public meetings will be:
• Wednesday, May 23, 6:30 – 7:45 p.m., Sartartia Middle school Cafetorium, 8215 Homeward Way, Sugar Land.
• Tuesday, May 29, 6:30 – 7:45 p.m., Lake Olympia Middle School Cafetorium, 3100 Lake Olympia Parkway, Missouri City.
• Wednesday, May 30, 6:30 – 7:45 p.m., Travis High School Cafetorium, 11111 Harlem Road, Richmond.
The seven FBISD Building Utilization Committee (BUC) members presented their proposal to the Fort Bend ISD Board of Trustees on May 21. The BUC recommendations and maps are available for viewing on the district’s web site.
Parents and community members are encouraged to view the recommendations, attend one of the meetings and ask questions. The board will consider the proposed attendance boundary changes as an action item at its June 11 regular meeting.
The purpose of the BUC is to acquire information, gather community feedback and provide proposals for optimum building utilization within the district.
Considerations for the BUC proposal include enrollment levels, building capacities and current and future population growth. Seven BUC meetings have been held since January 2012.
