Members of the Fort Bend Junior Service League (FBJSL) proudly presented Fort Bend Seniors Meals on Wheels (FBS) with a check for $10,000 at the League’s May meeting. The donation represents proceeds raised from sales of the League’s second cookbook, Treasures from the Bend, Rich in History and Flavor and brings the total cookbook proceeds presented to date to $25,000.
FBJSL partnered with St. Luke’s Sugar Land Hospital to present their second cookbook publication. Named the “Official Cookbook of Fort Bend County” by the Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce and winner of the 2009 Tabasco Award for the Southwest Region, Treasures from the Bend features both historical and flavorful treasures.
Proceeds from this project benefit Fort Bend Seniors Meals on Wheels, a vital program in the community that serves more than 1,000 meals each day in Fort Bend County.
Copies of Treasures from the Bend are still available. Cookbooks are $27.95 each and can be purchased online at www.fbjsl.com or at several Fort Bend retailers and businesses, which are listed on the website.
