First Colony Library book clubs cater to readers of all kinds

January 31, 2012 by FortBendStar

Whether you enjoy classic literature or a gritty crime novel, Fort Bend County Libraries invites you to share that love of reading with other book lovers at one of First Colony Branch Library’s book clubs. These book clubs meet monthly at the library, located at 2121 Austin Parkway in Sugar Land, and new members are always welcome.

Members of the Sugar Land Great Books Adult Discussion Group meet on the third Tuesday of the month to discuss classic literature. The February 21 book club discussion, which will begin at 7:00 pm in the Conference Room, will be on Adam Bede, written by George Eliot.
A variety of genres are discussed at the First Colony Book Group, which meets on the fourth Wednesday of every month, beginning at 1:30 pm, in the Meeting Room. The discussion on February 22 will be on A Thousand Splendid Suns, a novel written by Khaled Hosseini.

The Amiga Book Club, a discussion group for Spanish-speaking readers, meets on the last Thursday of the month, beginning at 12:00 noon, in the Conference Room. The February 23 discussion will be on Antigua Vida Mía, written by Marcela Serrano.

The book clubs are free and open to the public. For more information, call the branch library at 281-238-2800 or the libraries’ Public Information Office at 281-341-2677.
