General seat selection for StarTex Power Field has started much along the lines as stadium bowl seating. It began this Monday.
This past Friday, however, the first round of stadium seats was selected for places at the StarTex Power Field, which is still under construction. Season ticket holder Jim Wells from Richmond not only got his first set of seats there, but he was also the first to pick seats. With Wells’ being the first and making history, the reality of the stadium seems to be getting much closer and his name will probably be memorialized in the stadium’s history. Ironically, Jim Wells’ name is that of a county in Texas and it’s probably historical, too.
Last week four groups that included Wells were at the Skeeters’ offices at Sugar Land Town Square. They earned the right to be the first to select their seats because their accounts had the highest priority numbers, said team officials. Wells ended up picking his 18 seats in the second and third rows behind the third base dugout. Karen Glynn’s 16 seats were down the first base line next to the dugout in the first two rows, while Michael Sherman picked 14 seats in the second and third row behind the first base dugout. There was also Jim Kelleher in the group. His 12 seat total includes four in the second row behind the first base dugout and eight seats in the third row in between the dugout and home plate.
With that out of the way and others now selecting their places in the seating bowl of the StarTex Power Field, the count down to Opening Day 2012 almost feels like it’s going much faster.
