The City of Rosenberg will host its 10th annual kids’ fishing tournament, FISHtastic, from 8:00 to 12:00 noon on Saturday, March 10, at the lake at Seabourne Creek Nature Park, 3827 State Highway 36 South.
The tournament is free and open to anglers ages 4 to 14. Registration will occur the day of the event and all tournament participants must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. To fill out a registration form beforehand, click here, or visit the Parks & Recreation page of the City website and look under Special Events.
Children will be divided into three groups, ages 4-7, ages 8-10, and ages 11-14. All participants will be required to fish from the shore and provide their own fishing equipment and bait. Representatives from David’s Tackle Box will be on hand to give out bait samples and fishing advice. Trophies will be awarded to each age group in two categories: Biggest Fish and Most Fish Caught.
In preparation for the event, Seabourne Creek Nature Park will be closed to the public on Friday, March 9, until the beginning of the event Saturday, March 10. Fishing will re-open to the general public at noon, Saturday, March 10, following the conclusion of the tournament. A valid Texas fishing license and trout stamp is required for anglers 17 to 64 years of age, with a limit of five (5) fish per day.
FISH-tastic is organized and hosted by the City of Rosenberg Parks and Recreation Department with generous donations and support from David’s Tackle Box, Rapid Research, Fiesta, the Coastal Prairie Chapter of the Texas Master Naturalists, Holy Rosary Catholic Church and local high school organizations.
