Did you make a New Year’s resolution to get fit? Would you just like to become more active and have fun? If you’re not sure where to start, Fort Bend County Libraries will have demonstrations of two fun activities – zumba and kickboxing – at the First Colony Branch Library, 2121 Austin Parkway in Sugar Land, in January.
The first demonstration, “Introduction to Zumba Fitness,” will take place on Saturday, January 21, beginning at 11:00 am, in the Meeting Room of the library. Zumba instructor Cyndia Rodriquez will teach the basics of this popular Latin-inspired dance-fitness program.
On Saturday, January 28, a Kickboxing demonstration will begin at 10:30 am, in the Meeting Room of the library. Instructor Christina Hernandez will introduce techniques and basic movements such as jabs, crosses, and kicks.
Those attending either of these programs should wear comfortable clothes and sneakers, and should bring a bottle of water.
The programs are free and open to the public. Seating is limited, however, and reservations are required. To register online at the library’s website (www.fortbend.lib.tx.us), click on “Calendar,” select “First Colony Branch Library,” and find the program. Participants may also register by calling the library at 281-238-2800, or by visiting the library.
