Fort Bend resident Bliss Scharfenberger reports that the recent Fort Bend Animal Adoption event held at the Fort Bend County Fairgrounds was a tremendous success. On Saturday, Nov. 5, Fort Bend County Animal Control and the other Fort Bend city animal control organizations teamed up and sponsored a huge, pet adoption event. All of the animals available for adoption were spayed/neutered and fully vetted, he said.
“The event ran from 10 to 6, but when I left at 2:30, every single dog had been adopted,” said Scharfenberger. He estimates there were about 50 dogs, and only 11 cats remained at the time that he left. Of the people that showed up to adopt the pets, he said he saw crowds lined up outside the door. “People were so excited, it was amazing.”
Scharfenberger said, “much of the vetting was done free of charge by some real county heroes—the vets at Rose-Rich Animal Clinic and Richmond Animal Clinic/Hospital.” They were responsible for having provided all the spay-neuter services, and also the shots and exams free of charge. “I’ve never met them, but I’m simply amazed at their generosity and compassion.”
