Fort Bend County Clerk Dianne Wilson announces that the county and its Judicial Steering Team are the winners of Tyler Technologies Public Sector 2010 Excellence Award for efficiency. The award will be presented in San Antonio next month at an annual conference. For the previous year, Fort Bend County and the Judicial Steering Team received the Texas Association of Counties’ Best Practice Innovation Award for Team Model Structure for Project Management.
“These prestigious awards are the results of the hard-earned efforts by hundreds of employees and elected officials during this five year project of installing an integrated justice system called Odyssey,” said Wilson. “The project involved configuration, conversion, training and implementation,” she adds, indicating that all phases were completed by August 2010. Credited with lead project efforts is Fort Bend County IT Project Manager Connie Heinecke.
Wilson said that the courts and clerks can now share case information and court appearances simultaneously from their desks instead of waiting on each other to produce and deliver paper files and dockets. She reports that with the integration of Odyssey, Fort Bend County eliminated over 22 justice applications saving it over $100,000 per year.
