Two HBU nursing students from Fort Bend County are spending May 13-26 in Aberdeen, Scotland, as participants in an annual nursing exchange program. Rachelle Gerke, of Sugar Land, and Katherine Sacueza, of Missouri City, will experience a variety of clinical, academic, cultural and social activities during their two-week visit.
Organized in partnership with the Grampian-Houston Association and Robert Gordon University (RGU), the exchange program, now in its 16th year, will allow Gerke and Sacueza to participate in midwifery lectures and sessions in the Clinical Skills Lab at RGU’s Faculty of Health and Social Care. The clinical program will include a visit to Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. The students will also attend a formal dinner with the Grampian-Houston Association and have an opportunity to meet the Lord Provost of Aberdeen.
In September, Gerke, Sacueza and the HBU School of Nursing and Allied Health will welcome to Houston two nursing students from RGU, Beverly Brown and Iona Hynd.
