Fort Bend ISD Board approves 2014-2015 School Calendar and revisions to 2013-2014 Calendar

March 6, 2013 by FortBendStar

Fort Bend ISD develops the school calendar two years in advance to facilitate planning for the community and staff. At its February 25 Regular Board Meeting, the Fort Bend ISD Board approved Calendar A for the 2014-2015 school year, and the Board approved a revision to the 2013-2014 school calendar to include the following:

• The addition of one professional development day (an increase from 9 to 10 days),

• A change for the number of instructional days for students from 180 instructional days to 177 instructional days, and 189 teacher days to 187 days,

• Fort Bend County Fair Day Holiday, and

• A week off at Thanksgiving.

The Texas Legislature has mandated that all school districts start no earlier than the fourth Monday in August – no exceptions, no waivers. Therefore, the first day of school for the 2014-2015 school year will be August 25, 2014.
