Fort Bend ISD Police Department officers are sporting a bright accent color on their uniforms in October as they support Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Their bright pink epaulets (shoulder adornments) are receiving much attention across the District and in the community.
FBISD Police Chief, David Rider, and his wife, Jodi, made the sets of pink epaulets for every officer as a way to increase awareness of the disease.
“Since we began wearing them, I have had an overwhelmingly positive response,” Chief Rider said. “I have had police officers and principals share their personal experiences, and many District employees have thanked us for helping bring awareness to this disease.”
Rider said that wearing pink is just one way to support the cause and that his department is committed to education on every level.
“As FBISD officers, we have an opportunity to influence students and staff by helping to increase awareness of the disease and potentially save lives,” he said.
