Fort Bend ISD observed School Board Recognition Month by honoring its seven-member Board of Trustees at the January 9 Board Business Meeting. School Board Recognition Month is observed in Texas each January to build awareness among our citizens about the important and vital role that an elected Board of Education plays in our society.
Fort Bend ISD’s Board of Trustees includes: Susan Hohnbaum, President; Marilyn Glover, Vice President; Jim Rice, Secretary; and members Bruce Albright, Sonal Bhuchar, Cynthia L. Gary, and Dr. Patsy Taylor.
As a show of appreciation to the Board, former Reading Recovery and Descubriendo la Lectura students representing eight FBISD schools presented the Board and Superintendent with personalized gifts that featured student artwork. The students’ Reading Recovery teachers were also recognized during the program. They are Sandra Salazar, Trisha Buantello, Candy Ewert, Dianne Wright, Tonya Behn, Mary Milner, Lisa Longworth and Jose Barrera.
The District also held a reception prior to the Board meeting that gave District administrators and staff an opportunity to meet with Board Members to express their appreciation for all they do to support our District. FBISD’s Board of Trustees contributes greatly to the success of our students and schools by ensuring that our educational system is governed in the most effective and efficient manner possible. As elected volunteers, they devote countless hours to providing policies, oversight and support to ensure continued district growth and improvement.
