Fort Bend’s Harvest Green hosts grand opening weekend, March 12-13

Fort Bend’s Harvest Green, Houston’s first master-planned community with an on-site farm, community and backyard gardens, will host its grand opening weekend on Saturday, March 12 from 1-5 p.m. and Sunday, March 13 from 1-4 p.m. when visitors can experience 11 spectacular model homes, a Farmers Market, beer garden, live music, children’s activities and more.

Throughout the weekend, visitors can tour Harvest Green’s brand-new model homes, each presenting a variety of new designs and innovative, multi-functional spaces for today’s busy families.

Fully furnished and expertly decorated, the new models showcase impressive entries with rotunda ceilings, gourmet island kitchens, open-concept family rooms, inviting master suites, spacious secondary bedrooms, game rooms and media rooms.

Harvest Green’s Grand Opening weekend will feature live music on both Saturday and Sunday.

The Revi’s take to the stage on Saturday at 1 p.m. followed by the smooth country sounds of Katy’s Kevin Black starting at 3:15. On Sunday, starting at 1:15, dance to the fun ’80s cover band The Spazmatics.

Throughout the weekend, a beer garden presented by Whole Foods will present samples from several local breweries while families can enjoy Houston’s top food trucks, a pig roast, Farmers Market, hands-on planting activities with Harvest Green’s farming team, petting zoo, roving balloon artist, face painting, bounce houses and other inflatables.

Visitors also can check out the progress of Harvest Green’s signature amenities, the Village Farm and The Promenade.

At the Village Farm, residents can lease 15 x 20 foot plots to grow their own food. It also will host a weekly farmers market and house space for classes in agriculture for residents and students at Travis High School, Bowie High School and Harvest Green’s future on-site elementary school, all part of the Fort Bend Independent School District.

At The Promenade, a sprawling, tree-lined family gathering place encircled by paved walking and biking paths, residents will enjoy a fitness center, family pool with spacious sitting areas, ample shade structures and a splash pad outside the pool gates for year-round enjoyment.

The Promenade also will include a lakeside amphitheater for concerts and performances, a lush event lawn, park and playground.

The 1,300-acre community by The Johnson Development Corp. is conveniently located at the Grand Parkway and West Airport Boulevard, minutes from the Energy Corridor, Sugar Land and Katy.

Harvest Green offers new homes from the mid $260’s by D.R. Horton, Lennar Homes, Newmark Homes, and Plantation Homes. New homes from the $300’s are available by Highland Homes, Meritage Homes, Perry Homes and Westin Homes. New home plans also are available from the $400’s by Darling Homes, David Weekley Homes and Trendmaker Homes.

As part of the Harvest Green experience, families can also choose to have a raised, ready-to-grow vegetable garden installed in their backyards.
