Gear up and hit the road for Bike the Bend 2011 sponsored by Texas Direct Auto. The Literacy Council’s annual bike ride will be held on Sunday, November 20. The community’s participation in this event will help determined adults in Fort Bend County learn to read, speak English and earn their GED.
Bike the Bend for Literacy is a BP MS 150 Recommended Ride that starts and finishes at Foster High School in Richmond. Year after year, riders return to enjoy this event that is strategically scheduled for the weekend before Thanksgiving. Along Bike the Bend’s scenic 20, 35 and 63 mile routes through Fort Bend County, riders will enjoy fully-stocked rest stops with fresh fruit, chocolate candy, ice cold water and more. Food for the rest stops is being provided by Whole Foods Market. Riders can enjoy post ride refreshments by Bullritos and My Fit Foods. Prior to the ride, chiropractors will be available to help riders. There will be two massage therapists on-site to ease those tense muscles after the ride.
Registration for the ride is just $30 until November 17th. Interested participants may register on-line at active.com. Registration forms are available on the Literacy Council’s website, www.ftbendliteracy.org, as well as at local bike shops. All proceeds from the event support the life-changing programs offered at the Literacy Council.
Sponsorships for Bike the Bend are still available and range in price from $5,000 to $250. Join these enthusiastic supporters of Literacy and have your business or name printed on the back of the ride t-shirts that are distributed to riders and volunteers. Help our adult students unlock their potential for success by supporting and sponsoring Bike the Bend for Literacy.
