The Literacy Council is “branching out.” Along with classes held daily at the Literacy Council’s location in Sugar Land, the Literacy Council also offers classes at Ridgemont Early Childhood Center in Missouri City located at 5353 Ridge Creek Circle, Houston.
The Literacy Council will offer English as a Second Language (ESL) and GED classes at Ridgemont Early Childhood Center. ESL classes will be offered in the morning and evening on various days and GED classes will be offered in the afternoon on Mondays and Wednesdays and in the evening on Mondays. Classes will begin in January with GED classes starting the week of January 9.
The Literacy Council, 12530 Emily Court, Sugar Land, is always available to register students from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Ridgemont Early Childhood Center (5353 Ridge Creek Circle, Houston, TX 77053) is available to register students during regular business hours Monday through Friday.
The actual classes are free with a $30 annual registration fee. The annual registration fee may be waived in certain circumstances. In order to register, please bring a photo id such as a driver’s license or passport. The Literacy Council needs proof of address, so if the address on the driver’s license is not current, please bring a utility bill. In addition, please bring proof of household income. An income tax return copy is preferred, but a pay stub from everyone in the household who is employed will suffice. Income is not a determining factor, but rather information that is used for statistical purposes. An ESL level assessment will be given at the time of registration for those students wishing to take ESL classes. All students need to complete the registration process.
