Fort Bend County Libraries will host the Sugar Land Area Artists/Katy Area Artists’ 2013 Spring Fine Arts Show on Saturday, May 4, from 10:00 am to 4:30 pm, in the Bohachevsky Gallery at George Memorial Library, 1001 Golfview in Richmond. A reception and awards presentation will take place at 2:00 pm.
The juried show features visual and fine-art entries in a variety of traditional and modern art media and styles, including watercolor, oil, and acrylic painting; drawings done in pencil, pen and ink, and charcoal; photography and digital art; sculpture; and mixed media. Studio fine crafts, such as glass blowing, pottery, woodwork, weaving, jewelry, mosaic, fiber art, and other fine hand-crafting techniques, will also be represented. Artists of all ages and skill levels will be featured, from beginning school-aged youth to professional artisans.
The show will be judged by internationally-known portrait artist, William J. Kalwick, Jr.
The Sugar Land Area Artists and the Katy Area Artists represent the two largest art leagues on the west side of the Houston metro area. The organizations are member leagues of the Lone Star Art Guild, which is an association of 23 art societies.
