George Ranch HS Longhorn Band getting in the “Groove” for March Towards State

October 2, 2013 by FortBendStar

The George Ranch High School Band competed with 16 other area 4A & 5A bands Sept. 28 in Friendswood.

They performed their program “Groove”, an original piece written for the Longhorn Band.

Composer Jason Nitsch, assistant band director at Klein High School, had the idea to match the music with the aggressiveness, attitude, and personality of the school’s program.  It consists of three movements of differing grooves.  The band received 3rd place in the 4A division.

Their pathway to success will include the LCISD Invitational and Katy Marching Contests.
