Are you learning to speak English? Would you like some practice in a casual, informal atmosphere? Fort Bend County Libraries is launching a new program for individuals of all nationalities who would like a place to practice their English language and conversation skills. The “Conversation Circles” will provide an opportunity for non-English-speaking people to gather in a relaxed setting, and discuss topics of their own choosing while practicing their English skills.
The Conversation Circles will take place at two locations in the Fort Bend County library system. The program at George Memorial Library was launched in November, and takes place every Tuesday from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon, in the Learning Lab of the library, located at 1001 Golfview in Richmond.
The Sugar Land Branch Library, 550 Eldridge, will begin the weekly program on Monday, January 13, from 2:00 to 3:00 pm, in the Conference Room of the library. The libraries will be closed on Monday, January 20, for the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday, but the program will resume the following Monday.
The program is free and open to the public. For more information, call the Literacy Services Department at George Memorial Library at 281-342-2652, or the Sugar Land Branch Library at 281-238-2140.
