Have you visited the Eiffel Tower, the Roman Colosseum, and Crown Jewels of the Queen? Eleven high-school age Girl Scouts from Rainbow Stars Service Unit Troop 147 recently spent 10 days traveling Europe and experienced these places and more! They raised more than $14,000 over 3 years for the trip. They sold cookies and fall products, held garage sales, put on Girl Scout events such as the Halloween Carnival and Father-Daughter Dance for younger girls and much more.
A history previously only known through textbooks sprung to life as they visited sites once inhabited by artists, writers, politicians and other famous figures. Girls who had only seen paintings in text books by Van Gogh and Monet were able to see the originals up close at the Musee d’Orsay in Paris. The girls had the experience of a lifetime and will always remember this trip as a fabulous experience as a Girl Scout.
Where do you want to go? What do you want to see? These girls decided they wanted to go to Europe and set their mind on that goal. They worked hard and as a team they accomplished their dream.
