Every year, girl scouts go tirelessly from door to door selling delicious cookies. And everyone buys some. People love Girl Scout cookies. But do you ever wonder where all that cash goes? Parts of the funds are saved for future adventures. For some Girl Scouts, that is traveling, like Ambassador Girl Scout Troop 138 from Rainbow Stars Service Unit. This troop has been together since the 1st grade and has saved money from cookie sales, car washes, and garage sales to fund this outing.
In Girl Scouting, travel is about fun, exploration and progressive learning experiences to appreciate the outdoors, new places and other cultures. These Girl Scouts developed leadership skills and learned about other places and cultures on their recent Junior/Senior cruise to Progreso and Cozumel, Mexico and New Orleans. They visited the Mayan pyramids of Chitchen Itza and snorkeled in the waters of Cozumel. The girls also had some time in New Orleans where they viewed the work of local artists and sampled classic New Orleans food.
