Glover Elementary School students were rewarded well for their outstanding reading efforts as their school earned the Grand Prize award in the Houston Rockets “Read to Achieve” program. This year, Glover students in grades 1-5 completed more than 450,000 minutes of reading. The school’s top grade level readers were: Keshawn Minor (1st grade), Terrance Jones (2nd grade), Johnae Pickard (3rd grade) and Kaila McZeal (5th grade).
As the winner of the program, the Glover Eagles received 60 tickets to the Rockets versus Golden State Warriors game, a Houston Rockets and University of Phoenix themed reading corner for their school library, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony and pep rally at their school. The school was also recognized at the Houston Rockets’ “Read to Achieve” Jam Fest, held at the Toyota Center. The event engaged students throughout the Houston area in energetic, interactive games and activities to celebrate their love of reading.
