Guadalupe Olivarez Maldonado, 69 of Missouri City, Texas formerly of Caldwell passed away Friday, August 10, 2012 in Houston. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at 11:00 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Caldwell with Rev. Brion Zarsky as Celebrant. The burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive guests from 6 to 8:00 pm Monday evening at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home with a Rosary being recited at 7:00pm Monday. Military Honors will be under the auspices of the Caldwell VFW Post # 4458.
Guadalupe was born December 26, 1942 in Caldwell, to parents Genaro Maldonado and Vita (Olivarez) Maldonado. He graduated from Caldwell High School in 1962 and went on to graduate from Sam Houston State University with a BA in Business Administration. He was in Commercial Real Estate for over 25 years in the Houston and Missouri City areas. He served his country during the Vietnam War reaching the rank of Specialist 5th grade. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He enjoyed being outdoors during many hobbies and activities just a few were fishing, hunting, grilling and watching his Aggies and Houston Texans play football.
Guadalupe is preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Macario Maldonado.
He is survived by his family three sons, Christopher Maldonado and wife Brandy, Nathan Maldonado, and Michael Maldonado all of Missouri City, a daughter, Danielle Maldonado of Brooklyn ,NY and by his former wife and best friend Linda Maldonado of Missouri City, also two sisters, Bernadette Bruns & husband Frank of Austin, TX, Rose Meyer and husband Rick of Ellington, CT. three granddaughters, Mary Catherine, Madison, and Makenzie Maldonado all of Missouri City, and numerous other relatives and many friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be Christopher Maldonado, Nathan Maldonado, Michael Maldonado, Mark Maldonado, Frank Bruns, and Rick Meyer. Serving as Honorary pallbearers are Julian Olivarez, Roel Santa Maria, Richard Haydon, Ezekiel Olivarez, Victor Olivarez, Paul Lira, Julian Cedillo, Frank Maldonado, John Maldonado, Joaquin Hernandez,.
The family is requesting in lieu of flowers memorials be given to the National M.S. Society, The Westview School (www.westviewschool.org/Online-Donation/) or Livestrong.
