Helps city police and animal control in Missouri City
Hot in more ways than one! The Tri City Business Alliance’s event this past Saturday to raise funds for the Missouri City police department and the city’s animal shelter program brought out die-hard local area charitable supporters on a hot summer day…not feeling like, but reportedly recording 106 degrees. Held at the Red Oak Grill in Missouri City, there was even a silent auction with romantic weekend getaways, tickets to the Astros and Skeeters baseball games, and more treats under several tents that helped cool down the temperature, but not the intentions of the contributors or participants.
Surprising many of those that turned out was a huge paper shredder accommodated in what looked like a full sized moving truck. It was stationed out in the parking lot and participated as one of the organization’s businesses providing its shredding services as an event donation. The Stafford based, locally owned company destroyed documents with its mobile shredding equipment right there…on site… lifting containers much like the automated solids waste trucks do it, except that these bins make it to the truck under lock and key. Those assisting said they do this document destruction for both office and residential customers operating like those mobile car doctors do. So, one doesn’t have to go anywhere, but for this event people brought over their papers to be shredded.
In the end, the associated benefit of the fundraiser was to expose local businesses to the community. Lake Olympia Animal Hospital was there to tag and vaccinate pets and participated alongside representatives of Missouri City’s Animal Shelter program which passed out information.
