The Adult Services staff at Fort Bend County Libraries’ Sienna Branch Library, 8411 Sienna Springs Blvd in Missouri City, will present a variety of free, introductory technology classes this month. The classes will consist of a hands-on introduction to basic skills for people who would like to learn more about using these computer programs.
The “MS Word Survival Basics” class for version 2010 will take place on Wednesday, July 3, beginning at 10:00 am, in the Computer Lab.
The “MS Word: Intermediate” class for version 2010 will take place on Wednesday, July 10, beginning at 10:00 am, in the Computer Lab.
The class, “Introduction to Google Tools,” will take place on Wednesday, July 17, beginning at 10:00 am, in the Computer Lab. Learn about some of the most popular online Google tools used on the Internet.
“Introduction to Social Networking” will take place on Wednesday, July 24, beginning at 10:00 am, in the Computer Lab. Learn about social-media websites, including LinkedIn and Flickr, which focus on business networking and specific activities or subjects, such as photo sharing and blogging.
“Introduction to Pinterest” will take place on Wednesday, July 31, beginning at 10:00 am, in the Computer Lab. Learn all about Pinterest, the new virtual pinboard that has taken the social-media population by storm. Pinterest enables people to organize and share items of interest to them that they have found on the Internet.
Pinboards can be used to collect ideas for anything from planning weddings or decorating homes to organizing favorite recipes, and much more. Those attending this class should have a working email address and password.
The classes are free and open to the public. Seating is limited, however, and reservations are required.
